An Easier Way?

Please tell me there is an easier way to this dossier stuff???? I feel as though I have papers coming from every direction. Then there is the home study papers, the letters from friends that I don't have, that is driving me crazy, the wait on translation, the everything. I am trying my best to focus on one thing at a time, but UGGGGGGGGggggggggg!!!! I feel as though so much has to wait on the home study. Other than a few things, I feel as the Home study is a big part of it. Please if anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it!!! Thanks so much for being there for me, for praying for me, for praying for my child! Love, Sarah

It is frustrating trying to get all of the dossier papers together and organized! The worst part for me was copying everything and trying to keep it straight! When you finally get everything done and hear that it made its way to Haiti there will be a HUGE weight off of your shoulders :)
Oh, I guess I should backtrack and say "Hi!" I found the link to your blog on someone else's blog. We are adopting a 2 year old named Landie from Haiti through Children of the Promise.

Sarah,

Just one step at a time....I can see from all your other activities in fundrasing that you are a woman of action, but with the dossier you find that waiting for others to finish their part is huge..one day at a time..Maybe making a check list. That always helped me..

Have fun..it is bringing daniel closer to home with each passing day...

Sarah, Hi, it is so nice to meet you!!! I am a very happy to hear that you are also adopting from Haiti. I just got a call from the adoption agency, and will hopefully get that completed in about 1 month or so. They have to wait on the fingerprints to be complete. Thanks for your words of encouragement. I have checked you site, and your child is beautiful!!!

It is crazy isn't it?? Reference letters, police clearance, other letters saying you've never beaten a child etc. etc. But sooner or later it's all gathered, translated, authenticated, legalized and on its way.

Hang in there!

Hi Sarah - we had a major delay with our homestudy due to a background check (long story). We started in late October and didn't get the homestudy finalized until sometime in late February or March. I brought our dossier to 3As in April. I felt so helpless and out of control! The only thing that kept me sane was trying to keep thinking that it was all in God's timing. You just do your best, and He takes care of the rest!

Deep breathing and cookies also got me through :-)

I was exactly where you are not too long ago! It'll happen - hang in there (we sent our dossier off two days ago). I remember the frustration - it was hard to imagine everything just coming together. Our agency gave us a checklist and we kept track as things came in. I would also call and periodically remind people (i.e. reference letters) or check on the status of outstanding documents. I didn't want to be pushy but also wanted to keep us & our adoption fresh in people's minds so they'd work to get what we needed.

God Bless!
